Processing of hexafluorosilicic acid

The production of mineral fertilizers is one of the largest branches of both foreign and domestic chemical industry. As is known, the main problem of any large-scale production is the formation of a large amount of waste.

Currently, the main fluorine-containing by-product of the production of phosphate fertilizers from fluorapatite is an aqueous solution of hexafluorosilicic acid. The amount of fluoride used in the processing of fluorapatite reaches 2 million tons per year, and thus hexafluorosilicic acid can become the main source of fluorine for the industry instead of natural fluorite. Hexafluorosilicic acid can be used to produce hexafluorosilicates and ammonium fluorides, from which, in turn, hydrogen fluoride can be obtained.

By the present time, the specialists of New Chemical Products LLC have conducted researches and developed methods for processing hexafluorosilicic acid to produce anhydrous hydrogen fluoride. The developed methods are patented.
